The Implementation Plan for the National Housing Strategy for Disabled People 2022-2027 will be launched next week on Thursday 22 June. It will be accompanied by an associated Awareness Campaign.

DFI welcomes this news as we have been advocating for publication of this implementation plan along with other disability and housing organisations, including the writing of a joint letter to the Minister of State with responsibility for Local Government and Housing, Kieran O'Donnell last moth, engaging with a range of elected representatives and the issuing of a joint press release last month.

We will provide our analysis following next week's publication. We look forward to positively supporting implementation as members of the National Implementation Steering Group and at a local level.

The National Housing Strategy for Disabled People 2022-2027 was widely welcomed when it was launched last year and has the potential to make a hugely positive change for disabled people if appropriate targets, monitoring structures, and resources are put in place to support implementation. There is an undisputed high level of unmet housing need among the disabled population, and implementation of the Strategy is essential to address this.
