DFI members discuss housing issues at second Housing Advisory Group meeting

DFI held its second member Housing Advisory Group meeting on Wednesday 1 May.
Members shared updates on work they are involved in, and housing issues experienced by their members. The discussion covered a wide range of areas including:
- Housing, social welfare and cost of disability challenges for disabled people
- Meeting housing and supports for independent living/supported housing
- Raising awareness about social housing options and planning for future housing and support needs
- Decongregation
- The development of universal design standards
- Cost pressures for Approved Housing Bodies and challenges involved with governmental funding schemes (e.g. Capital Assistance Scheme)
DFI gave a presentation on national and regional housing updates. There was also a discussion on the housing priorities for the Local Elections.
