ODG Lobby Group 1

DFI was part of an Oireachtas Disability Group delegation that attended Leinster House today, Thursday 20 June, to present the ODG Pre-Budget Submission to elected representatives.

We discussed some of the key issues facing disabled people that need to be addressed in Budget 2025. Our asks include:

  • Taking action on disability poverty, exclusion and cost of disability
  • Improving supports and housing so disabled people can live independent lives
  • Supporting Disabled Persons’ Organisations (DPOs) and organisations providing disability services, advocacy and advice
  • A  transparent and clear budgetary process
  • A disability-proofed budget

Read our full submission here.

Over the course of the day, the ODG met with elected representatives from Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, Sinn Féin, the Labour Party the Green Party, the Social Democrats and People Before Profit, as well as a number of independent TDs and Senators. The ODG will continue to engage with elected representatives in the run up to Budget 2025 to ensure that disability is a priority in the Budget.
