Coalition calls on Taoiseach to address pay and services for our sector
October 18 2024, 04:50pm
On Thursday 17 October, DFI CEO, Elaine Teague joined a coalition of nine other bodies representing the community and voluntary sector to hand a letter to the Taoiseach. The letter addressed pay issues for staff in the sector and sustainable funding models so the sector can keep providing vital services.
Funding cuts during the financial crisis are still in place and the viability of many essential services provided by our sector in communities throughout Ireland is in danger.
We also made it clear to the Taoiseach that while pay increases are welcome and needed, we're asking for a sustainable model of service to avoid the inconsistancy and lack of certainty experienced by too many staff and service users.
We called on him to implemement the multi-year funding and a whole-of-government approach needed to ensure our members can continue to deliver high quality services.
Signatories to the letter:
- Family Resource Centres National Forum
- National Federation of Voluntary Bodies
- Mental Health Reform
- Dublin Homeless Network,
