  • Session with guest speaker Irene Bertana (EASPD) on:
    • EASPD and Disability in Europe.

    • The European Semester – what it is, why it is relevant, and how disability organisations can get involved.
    • EASPD’s joint European manifesto with Social Services Europe.
  • Planning for the European Elections.

Following our first DFI European Network meeting which took place in April 2013, it is my pleasure to invite you to our next event taking place on Monday, 20th January, 2014.

Irene Bertana from the European Association of Service Providers for People with Disabilities (EASPD) will be our guest speaker. Irene has been the Policy and Communications Officer at EASPDfor almost 3 years. DFI believes that Irene’s visit presents us all with a great opportunity to come together, learn about the European structures that are important and relevant to us, and to take advantage of a space in which we can ask questions and discuss ideas.

DFI also want to take the time to talk about the upcoming European Elections. DFI are eager to hear any thoughts, ideas and plans you might have about how we are going to insert a disability perspective into the elections.

This January event is also very timely as we have entered a new funding period, the first phase of the European Semester has just been launched and it is now time to start thinking about the 2014 European Elections.

DFI will be sending some explanatory documents on EU funding and the European Semester in January prior to the meeting.
