QQI Level 8 Course - Quality Management: Theories, Standards and Practices for Community and Voluntary Organisations

This QQI Level 8 accredited course is an introduction to Quality Management. The course was developed in response to the increasing need for accountability, growing demand for evidence of quality in both services and management.
The module covers topics such as: Product vs service, policies, standards, Six Sigma, Lean Thinking, Benchmarking, Audit preparation, Quality Tools, Supply Chain, costs and problem solving, implementation, self-assessment.
Who would benefit from undertaking this course?
The course, delivered at the University of Limerick, is aimed at Administrators, Development Workers, Managers, Services Users, Volunteers and Board Members of Community and Voluntary Organisations.
Aims:
Participants will explore and apply a number of principles, tools and methodologies, designed to identify and eliminate ‘wasteful practices’ and achieve efficiencies in their organisations.
Outline:
This 10-week programme consists of five full days tuition staggered over the spring semester, coupled with prescribed reading and group assignments based on the learning from each of the class days.
Day 1: Introduction to Quality: Developing Priority Areas
Day 2: Total Quality Management I: Evidence Based Self-Assessment
Day 3: Managing Through Facts – Lean Thinking, Six Sigma
Day 4: Total Quality Management II: Implement, Review & Continuous Improvement
Day 5: Total Quality Management III: Supply Chains, Costs and Problem Solving
