One Month Countdown to Make Way Day on Friday 22 September 2023

Tomorrow, Tuesday 22 August 2023 marks the one-month countdown to #MakeWayDay23 which is coming to a street where you live on Friday 22 September.

Make Way Day is an annual campaign to make way on our streets for people with disabilities and to raise public awareness about the problems caused by obstacles blocking footpaths.

People with disabilities will be out and about on 22 September with disability groups and local organisations to highlight obstacles such as:

• Cars or vans parked on a footpath blocking the way
• Bicycles/motorbikes chained to lamp posts creating a trip hazard for a visually impaired person.
• Illegally placed sandwich boards, forgotten bins, barrels and other obstructions.

We will also be using our online survey tool again this year to gather information on the obstacles that people meet on their streets. The tool will be available on the Make Way Day website - www.makewayday.com.
