Responsibility for specialist community-based disability services will soon transfer from the Department of Health to the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth. This is due to happen at the start of April.
This is a significant move. This paper outlines key issues to consider when the transfer takes place. This includes ensuring that people with disabilities can access both the specialist disability services and mainstream health and community services that they need when the transfer takes place.
