Census data for disability: profiles for each county
September 26 2024, 02:27pm
According the 2022 census, 22% of people across Ireland have a disability. That’s almost a quarter of the country. That 22% figure covers a lot of types of disability across different parts of the country that require distinct needs and supports.
That’s why we’ve taken the census data and created disability factsheets that present the numbers for disability in Ireland in a digestible format. Our factsheets break the population down by:
- Age range
- Gender
- Type of disability
- Education level
- Housing
- Labour participation.
We know that everyone has different needs and available supports depending on where you are in the country. That’s why we’ve broken the numbers down for 32 council areas and we’ve developed individual profiles for each one.
We are currently working on getting accessible screen-reader friendly versions of all the factsheets for each county. We will add accessible versions to the website as soon as they are developed.
